If this Daylight acquisition by Sinopec costs a single Canadian job then it should bee no deal.

I just can`t much info on it`s economic impact for Canada.

So much anti-Chinese propaganda here. China is peaceful not harm to others. Your Western economies are destroyed and needs China market and foreign exchange exchange reserves. China not make imperialism like Western ones. China not meddles in foreign countries like Western ones. China had no black slavery like Western ones. Chin`s rise is good for world peace and properity.
dude is u and rambo wang like one and da same?
I can see how some posters might think so, but NO they are not.

I saw on TV that Beijing has cancelled plans to allow viewers to vote on who wins some American Idol type show. They may start liking that voting thing. ;)

this is a huge embarrassment to China and the Chinese all around the world...shame shame shame! Now reported in Canada by the Vancouver Sun...People are starting to wake up to the innate and entrenched numbness to cruelty in their society. We in Canada look on in awe at such diabolical depravities. This is echoing all around the world. The girl is now brain dead!

I like to recommend to you a wonderful video I rented from Rogers yesterday :

This movie focuses  on the  plight and hardship of a migrant worker family in China. It is also dedicated to the 140 million migrant workers in China.

It is in my opinion very well  made , because it is convincingly realistic , emotions , hopes ,wishes etc differ in no way from people anywhere else.

Something I have noticed myself here in Richmond , is the strong emphasis of Chinese parents to provide the best possible  education for their children. This movie focuses several times on this education-theme  -  something I can very well associate with.

The movie touches towards the end  a little bit on the inner conflicts of a young ,growing up girl on the cusp of womanhood, the rebellion of an adolescent - something parents all over the world have to cope with - however , I think ,  ultra hard working Chinese  parents face in this , and many other regards, an extra steep hill.

Again, I urge anybody to rent The Last Train Home.

Enjoy!

You seem to be a bit mixed up: it is the other way around: China depends to a very large extend on the consumerism and wealth of the western hemisphere  ; it represents the  teats China suckles on , and will do so for many more years to come.

Heinzy another racist and China hater. Your bankrupt and lazy West countrys need China manufacture, cash reserve and big market for your commodities. China has a market of 1.3 billion and much bigger than your shrinking West market. China market grow, West shrink. Chinese save West borrow and spend. China create jobs West lose jobs. China build good infrastructure, West infrastructure falling apart.

The West need China not reversal.

one can dig up this emotive material in all cultures even in China Heizy..Richmond is indeed a microcosm of China. Its good and bad points. Unfortunately the zeal to which this movie points is all about  China's insatiable desire for global power and dominace and what it takes to get there. Its very uncomfortable to have it dressed up in this curtsy fashion even though is focusing in on a family. Sorry not interested. I see insanity on a large scale and its indeed very disturbing. Thanks anyway. Forcing ones children in this manic way is a problem in  itself.
